Robert Alejandro Tinning is a performer and choreographer based in the Northern Rivers of NSW, whose practice is rooted in Afro-futurism and the exploration of diasporic identities.
Robert's choreographic work is inspired by his heritage and relationship to the Afro, Latin, & Western (Scottish) diasporas. He invites audiences into worlds where movement and sensations become powerful abstractive narratives.
His research has been supported by the Sacatar Fellowship (Itaparica, Bahia, Brazil) Tanja Liedtke Studio Residency x Australian Dance Theatre, Tasdance, Great Southern Dance, WA’s Department of Sport & Cultural Industries and AusDance NSW Innovative Dance Practice program.
As a performer, he currently works for Stephanie Lake Company, with previous ties to companies and institutions including Australasian Dance Collective, Tasdance, STRUT Dance WA, Shaun Parker & Company, and the wider independent arts scene in Australia and the East Coast of the USA.
