Lucy May
First Nations Placement
Lucy May is a Danggalaba, Kulumbirigin and Tiwi woman from Darwin, Northern Territory. She completed her dance training at the University for Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, receiving a Bachelor of Arts. From 2021 - 2023, Lucy was an intern with the Hessian State Ballet in Wiesbaden, Germany where she had the opportunity to perform in works by luminaries such as Sharon Eyal and Nadia Beugré, and take part in choreographic workshops with Imre and Marne Van Opstal, before moving back to Australia to join Bangarra Dance Theatre. Lucy has trained in many styles and techniques, from ballet to dance theatre and contact improvisation.
Avalon Ormiston
Graduate Pathways Intern
Avalon Ormiston is an emerging artist originally from Brisbane/Meanjin who is a graduate of Sydney Dance Company’s PPY program and completed a Bachelor of Health Science (minor in Human Movement) at University of Sydney, 2025. Avalon was part of the cast of “Colossus” Newcastle in 2022 (New Annual Festival), participated in SLC’s Summer Intensive in 2024 and has undertaken a secondment with the company. She currently performs with Young Folk, an emerging collective in Sydney and has danced in Aida (Opera Australia, 2023) and Pau Aran’s Berlin based work The Body Keeps it Honest (2024) supported by an Ian Potter Emerging Artist Grant.
Secondments
Stephanie Lake Company hosts dancer secondments during most rehearsal blocks throughout the year. To register your interest please contact us via the website. Secondments are offered to dancers who have graduated from full-time training or equivalent.
